Blessing of the week

After reading the last post you will know what i mean when i say that i felt our lives were too busy and that something needed to go. But when i sat to look at what we do, it really isn't much. We have gone to a bible study on wed mornings for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. But this year for some reason i just have felt a distance with it. Not sure why but haven't been able to get into it. So feeling the way i have lately i was considering if maybe i needed to take some time off from it. The other night while driving home my kids and I were discussing the word respect. That can be an interesting conversation with a 7 and 5 year old. Probably because I was trying to hard and yet at the same time trying to put it on their level in words they could grasp. So as if at a "duh!" moment, my sweet 5 year old Jaxon says "The bible says, Love one another, John 13:34" We have worked on memorizing scripture but this wasn't one that we have been working on so it caught me off guard. And the fact that he put the two together. I was thinking to myself, what better way to show respect that loving one another, And then as if on cue the two belted out in song,

"love one another,
love on another,
love one another , John 13:34"

This is a song they learned in bible study. IT was such a true blessing and a gentle nudge from God telling me that indeed I did not need to stop going to bible study on wed mornings, because my children were being minstered too there also. I am so thankful to God that there are Godly women instructing my children in scripture memory there. I know there are times when my voice and instruction becomes so monotone to them and I praise God that he has placed others there to fill the gaps.

An unexpected getaway!

Lately I have felt so stretched in life. So many things to do, so many places to go, so many things to accomplish, so many messes to clean, so much laundry to finish, so many lessons to teach, etc. etc. but yet so little time. Funny how when feeling so busy you can start to feel so alone. Several times lately I have wished I could just get away for a little while to get a break from the things pulling me in so many directions. So when the opportunity came up to go on a job trip with eric, we went. Wow just a gentle reminder that God knows our needs. Just me and my family of 5 in a 250 sq ft cabin in Mountain View for several days. No phone, no schedule, not much to mess up or clean up, no washer and dryer, etc, just us! It was simple and I loved it! My kids and I explored the world while eric was working and even more just enjoyed each other. We drove lots together in the car looking at the mountains, we walked to the creek and threw rocks in the water, we shopped in tons of flea market stores on main street, we read books, we climbed trees (well they did), we had picnics, we chased rabbits, we explored the caverns and springs at Blanchard Springs, and we just talked about and enjoyed God's creations. It was wonderful! We just didn't want to come home!~

Jaxon's stats

So we went to the WELL child visit yesterday. Jaxon weighed in at 58.5 pounds and exactly 4 ft tall. At the rate he is growing he will be 6 ft at 10!!! Needless to say he is off the charts on both weight and height. He checked out fine except that he indeed was wheezing so they put him back on Singular for a couple of months. And because he is border line Asthma, they couldn't give him the flumist, so he got 4 shots! OUCH! And with an almost empty waiting room I thought we were safe, but unfortunately I think he caught something while there cause he woke up at 4 am with 102 temp. Double YUCK! Staying in until we know if it is a sickness or a reaction to the shots!

The latest of our Adventures in My Fathers World

I am so loving our curriculum this year. We have been studing about the history of America and the Pilgrims coming to America. We read a book about Squanto talked about life and what it was like then. We also talked about how Jesus is our bread of life. We talked about the manna and the little boy with the small lunch. We did experiments with Yeast. We learned that when mixed with warm water and sugar, yeast puts off carbon dioxide. And enough of it to blow up a balloon. Then one day this week we made Butter for bread after reading a story about a boy who came over to America and milked his cow and made butter. The kids loved it and Jaxon and Reid couldn't eat enough of it. Jaxon now requests butter sandwiches! Our current memory verse is
..."I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35

I am loving seeing the biblical principals they are learning. It brings such joy to my heart to know that they are learning these great bible truths right along with the rich history of our godly founders of America

This is our yeast experiment. I thought we got a picture later but i guess not. The balloon did inflate when left for a little while.

Sissy helped make the butter,

Sissy helped butter the bread

And the boys loved to eat it up!

Happy 5th Birthday Jaxon!

Jaxon has been counting down the days for quite some time. He couldnt' wait until he turned 5. So he finally did on September 16th. We had a birthday in Jonesboro the weekend before and of course my camera broke so i am waiting on pics from family of that one. Then on his birthday we had Eric's side of the family over for cake.

Jaxon is not your normal sized 5 year old. He now weighs about 56 lbs and is almost 4 ft tall. No surprise to us that puts him, well off the charts for both his height and weight. Nothing new.
He still gives some of the best little boys hugs out there. He loves to fish! He loves his john deere tractors, bibleman, changing clothes 50 million times a day and rough boy play! I just love his sweet grin and the sparkle in his eyes. I am so thankful that God loaned him to me and so blessed that I get to be his mommy! Happy Birthday sweet Jaxon!

Welcome to the world Olivia

So i put this post off because I knew that my sister would want to be the first to announce her arrival, and then well i just got sidetracked. On August 31st, Olivia Kate Welborn joined us. She was two and a half weeks early but in quite a hurry to get here. She weighed in at 6lbs 11 oz ( i think) and 19 inches long ( i think again). She is absolutely beautiful. And she has some very proud cousins who adore her and love to hold her (when they can get her away from Ella Claire)

so it has been a crazy month

Wow! I can't believe I havne't blogged in a month, but then again i can. So much has been going on. Lets see i have had 5 birthdays in the family, a new neice has joined us, hosted my children's consignment sale among trying to keep up with three kids and homeschool too! Wow!
